Mission
The main mission of the Conference is to bring together school and university Physics teachers across Europe and to encourage dialogue and the exchange of best practice in Physics education.
Uniting the two meetings, GIREP Seminar and EPEC Conference under the topic title Frontiers in Physics Education, raises some important and valuable issues. On the one hand, all the Physics education practitioners have to constantly refresh the content and teaching methods to keep up with the large and ever-growing scientific knowledge base in the field of Physics. On the other hand, recent trends in science communication require results of fundamental scientific research to be qualitatively elaborated and rapidly communicated to the public audience. In this respect, the Physics education research identifies the problems of conceptual understanding and brings forward strategies of active learning and effective knowledge construction.

Physics on the beach
During the GIREP/EPEC2 Conference, a special conference and local public event is planned titled PHYSICS ON THE BEACH.
The event will be organized as two-hours lasting activities of the conference participants with children (from local elementary schools) which will consist of demonstrations of simple phyisical experiments.
The event will take place on the nearby beach, with the topics suitable for the
environment: air, water, waves, wind, sunlight, sand....
Participants willing to participate in this activity as demonstrators and organizers of hand on activities are kindly asked to apply for the event
by sending an e-mail on ge2@ffri.hr with the information on:
- the topics of the demonstration
- duration (10-30 min is suggested)
- the appropriate age of participating children
- a short descritption of activities to be performed
